Astro’s Playroom Wikipedia

It differs by having longer handles, concave analog sticks with no rubber coating, a ridge on top of the L2 and R2 buttons, and a green Analog button light. The international version of the controller lacked the dual rumble motors, hence the name difference. Using discs meant that developers had much higher storage capacity than with cartridges, allowing for the inclusion of movies (often called FMVs) and higher-quality music. They were also much less expensive to manufacture, making it less of a risk to make a small run of games, bolstering the number of more experimental and niche releases on the system. Astro’s Playroom Special Bots Update Isn’t The End Of Celebrations For Astro Bot Ps5

I can’t say I had very high expectations for Astro’s Playroom, a game that comes free with every PlayStation 5 console. I figured it might be a cute series of minigames, akin to the robot-themed minigames in the PlayStation 4’s pack-in title, The Playroom. That PS4 game was the sort of thing you boot up once, mess around with for 30 minutes, and then forget it exists. Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur’s Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I’m not gaming, I’m probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.

Puzzle Piece 2/4 – In this same pinball area, knock out the 6 bowling pin enemies around the center bumper to make this puzzle piece appear. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – In the first pinball area, roll into the spot on the back left to get boosted to a rail with this puzzle piece at the end. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – Back on the main path, you then ride a circuit board through an area with electric rail obstacles. Midway through you can find this puzzle piece, basically right in your way. Artifact 2/2 “PlayStation Game Disc” – After jumping the gap with the bowling pin in front, go to the right across the pair of moving platforms to find this artifact. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – After the checkpoint where you slide down a slope, this puzzle piece is to the right across the grey quicksand.

The use of PSPs however refers to an expanded 2006 PSP port, Monster Hunter Freedom, which was even more popular than the original. After the third and final use of the Hang Glider, on the right you’ll find a Bot in a slingshot, which you can Punch to send flying into some boxes. This references the 2007 game PAIN on PlayStation 3, developed by Idol Minds. It’s notable for becoming the most popular downloadable game on the PlayStation Network at the time. Up the same cliff as the Ico easter egg, on the opposite side you can find a crowd observing a Bot teeing off with a golf club while wearing a PS VR headset. This references Everybody’s Golf VR by Clap Hanz, released in 2019.

Astro Bot Rescue Mission is referenced a second time on the PlayStation Game Disc Artefact, which has a fictional Astro Bot game label on it and a very low-polygon version of Astro on it. In the PlayStation Labo area are two Bots in VR with a third listening to music, with two microphones behind him. The mics reference 2004’s Singstar for the PS2, developed by London Studio. Singstar was a very popular franchise on the PS2, and came packed with blue and red microphones, as referenced in the Labo area.

Artifact 2/2 “PS3 Game Disc” – From the central large ice area go to the left across the controller symbol ice blocks. Pull up the two small wires, followed by the revealed large wire in the middle to get this artifact. Artifact 1/2 “PS Move Sharpshooter”– After jumping up through the two slanted glass panels, jump to the left to an area with a wooden box with a diamond on it.

If you just bought a PlayStation 5 or had one at launch, it would be a shame to miss experiencing a game that is completely free in 2025. In the final shaded section of the level with the long wooden bridge, look down on the left-hand wall to see a Bot on a bike escaping a swarm of Bots. The Bots chasing the bike refer to the huge swarms of zombies featured in the game. When you get to the Checkpoint just after the Uncharted easter egg, head around the corner of the cliff to find a reporter pointing out a black painting on the rock. The symbols above the soldiers refer to the rhythm-based nature of the gameplay to help take on large beasts. Immediately to the left of the Wires that start this level is a water tank showing a Bot in a shark tank that’s circled by two dangerous Pirhanas.

PlayStation and Team Asobi have dropped a surprise update for Astro’s Playroom in celebration of the reveal of its full-fledged Astro title, Astro Bot. I hope all of our Astro’s Playroom content helps you through the game. Stand at the edge of the level and throw the projectile towards it to reveal the location of the bot. First, activate the first two rope bridges by pulling the wires out of the ground. Now, return to the starting area, and to the side, you’ll find another set of wires, which gives you a projectile with a net inside. If done successfully, the Gran Turismo Special Bot and the “Grand Tourist” trophy will unlock.

Astro Bot is a deluge of PlayStation cameos, and some even get their own, full levels. Jump onto the lilypads, and leap across, but be careful not to fall in the frozen water as that’s lethal! Just a few days ago, we added a second Special Bot, Selene, from the PS5 title Returnal.
